Phakic IOLs, An Alternative For Those Unsuitable For Laser Vision Correction
Laser eye surgery is a healthy and accurate approach to achieve freedom from eyeglasses or contacts. However, there can be a subset of patients who regrettably are unsuitable for laser vision correction. Usually, these patients are either too myopic (shortsighted) and fall outside the treatment method possible with LASIK, have corneas that are too thin, or have corneas that are shaped abnormally. Patients’ eyesight can sometimes get worse yet if medicated with Laser in these cases, but cautious pre-operative testing picks up on them.
